Choir and Music

All Saints’ has an active, robed Choir and a Music Group.  We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.

The Choir leads the singing with organ accompaniment at the 10am service of Holy Communion and also on other occasions such as the Christmas Carol Service, occasional sung evening services and for some weddings.  We sing a musical setting of the Communion service and an anthem.  Our hymnbook is “Anglican Hymns Old and New” and we make full use of its mix of traditional and modern hymns.  We also use music from Taizé and Iona.

On the first Sunday of each month the Music Group leads the singing in a more informal way, usually with keyboard and bass guitar accompaniment together with singers and some woodwind.  We make use of worship songs as well as traditional hymns.

Choir Practice is on Friday evenings, from 7pm to 8pm.  The Music Group practises at 8pm on the Friday evening before the first Sunday.  We would welcome a few more members to both the Choir and the Music Group (age from about 7 or 8: it’s useful to be able to read but the ability to read music is not essential at the start!).

For further details, please contact the Music Leader, Paul Hedley.
